This morning began with an amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs and cheese along with hot tea and coffee. It tasted extra good since we cooked it ourselves due to the use of their kitchen. Click on the link for the corrected video.

We hiked uphill for the first hour of our morning. Eventually we made it up to the ruins of Weißenstein Castle. Mark and Nadine were so excited to be able to climb and explore the place. I actually found a huge flat rock and made myself comfortable and watched the antics. Interestingly, the ruins have just recently been rediscovered and a group is had been restoring and preserving the ruins since 1996.

We had the privilege of meeting a family who were also hiking. They were so nice and talked to us which made our morning even better. I love meeting friendly people.

By lunch we were all ready for a chance to sit down and rest our feet. Luckily a picnic table in a new park was available. Wow, we had a great meal! It becomes a lunch time tradition to take off our shoes to rest our feet during lunch. Watching a bee fly into one shoe and quickly exit had us laughing. Our shoes, having been wet for the last several days, really stink! We all agreed that shoe deodorizer needed to be purchased.

As we approached the town that was our destination, we had the opportunity to chat with a sweet lady. Andrea was so very nice and helpful. Once she learned that we were Americans, she shared that her daughter and granddaughter had just moved to Florida. What a small world!

After arriving in Wunsiedel late, we had an adventure getting into our apartment. Three wet pilgrims stood at a locked and unattended hotel with a code key to enter. Unfortunately Booking.com never sent us such a code. Calling the hotel, they answered in Czech oddly and had no record of our reservation. In the end they found it and sent us a code and we got in. But the few minutes of defeat affected us for a short time.
Another 1.5mi round trip to the grocery and another 1mi round trip to dinner made for a long day.
We are tired and achy but happy and ready for some sleep.

We are definitely limping around. My knees, Allison’s and Nadine’s foot (one each) are making it uncomfortable. But that too is part of the journey.

Alison, I don’t know if this will help you but the top of one of my feet hurt when hiking. A long time ago a boy scout leader re-laced my shoe so that it bypassed that high section to relieve the pressure. It worked and I’ve never had that problem again. This may not be your problem, but I will pray for a solution for your pain.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am a big believer in creatively re-lacing shoes. Pretty sure my pain is tendon and due to wear and tear. All your prayers are truly appreciated.

I LOVED the video going up the steps to the top of the castle. It felt like I was there! So sorry to hear about your injuries. Are you able to take a day of rest and heal up a bit? Nadine and that whale–I guess she’ll be heading to Ninevah next?

Well, this is sort of a missionary trip, so why not right!

We were in a fishing area (mainly trout) so all the towns greeted you with a large fish in the town center. That one just happened to be in the playground as well! 🐟
