Above is a screenshot of our planned route(s). If you were here earlier you saw several different options. Well from the image above you’ll notice that we’ve finally narrowed down our route.
The route starts in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and heads roughly westward across the Bohemian regions and over the Sudetes mountains into German Bavaria.
In Germany, the Camino is called Jakobsweg (St. James Way) and we will join this route near Wildstein Germany and head north northwest toward Kronach Germany. From Kronach we will march southward toward Nuremberg and cross into Switzerland across the Bodensee. Our journey across Switzerland will be difficult since we have chosen to deviate from the more well-travelled Via Jacobi to visit the high Alps area around Grindelwald and toward Mont Blanc.
From the base of Mont Blanc we will continue westward and re-catch the Camino (called Chemin de Saint Jacque France). The last few weeks will see us crossing the Massif Central before entering Le Puy en Velay FR. The entire journey will take approximately 70days.
