Jakobsweg Day14 Letzau-Windischeschenbach 15.45mi

Today started a bit like last night insofar as we had a completely non-pilgrim like meal. It was a luxury breakfast of fruit, meat, cheese, eggs, bread and jam all served over a linen tablecloth.

Our host and the amazing breakfast.

We received a stamp in our passports and headed out for the day.

Despite the forecast of another wet day we stayed mostly dry. The day started with a steep climb but then consisted of rolling hills. We passed huge radio control tower and sated mainly in farmland.

I don’t know if all the recent rain has been the cause but everything in the forests have been so green.

At the town of Neustadt on der Waldnaab we decided to stop for a coffee/tea, but were tempted by the ice cream. Everyone agreed it would be the hit of the day and possibly week. Nadine and Allison’s creations were huge.

We mainly walked alongside the Waldnaab River for the remainder of the afternoon. We were really looking forward to making our own dinner at the lodging for the night in the village of Windischeschenbach (Vin-dish-eshen-bach), but since it is Sunday all the grocery stores were closed. We did however take advantage of the washer and dryer to really clean our clothes. Hand washing can only do but so much after all.

This evening we went out to dinner as the grocery stores were closed.

As God would have it, the recommended restaurant was also closed so we searched for another and found what at first glance was a beer garden.  A kind server answered questions about the menu and seated us with a party of 4.  They engaged with us immediately. One of the women about my age told me about her grandchildren-3 grandsons and a granddaughter just like me.  She then said one of her children was expecting a child in December and another child, a son, she wasn’t in contact with.  I shared my story with her and we immediately connected.  (God never wastes anything).  I gave Kristianna (probably misspelled) one of the yellow arrows that is a symbol of the Camino, pointing us in the correct direction.  I asked her if she knew the God who sees, the Jesus who experienced all of our sorrows, and the Holy Spirit who remains present with us.  She said, “Yes, I believe the same”.  I said, ” Then we can be confident in that God that holds us and our distant children”.  She cried; we both cried for what is lost AND what is found in our life.  Thank you God for these special moments on our Pilgrimage.

Special dinner tonight.

Guten Abend. I did try wandering around the blog. History only shows Czech Republic and then, profiles three routes. Lodging, when selecting immediate download does indeed ask for Geld. Glad you’re enjoying yummy food!! Praying your shoes dry out and for sunny 🌞 weather.

Nadine, thanks for sharing that story about Kristiania. It was a precious moment to share the hope of Christ and encourage a hurting mother. You brought a smile to my heart this morning!
