This morning we left the village of Kladruby a little earlier than usual, around 6:30 a.m. Already, people were out and about, a lady carrying two bags of groceries was returning to her home, children were setting off for school, and people in their cars zipped by. It’s fun to see daily life in a small village.
The route along roads met with pathways of corn fields on one side and wheat on the other. Of course there were several raspberry and blackberry bushes, and cherry trees with an abundance of fruit from which we gleaned!

The path today varied a lot. We walked on paved roads, gravel roads, farm roads, through fields and through the woods. And yes , our feet did get wet since it rained last night and today as well. It always amazes me how varied our path is in just one day.

Many people would think this is ridiculous but you stop whenever you’re ready for lunch (I’ll let another tell that story) . I’m glad we stopped because we needed that sustenance for the mountain we climbed to get to our lodging.

Lunch was the lunch of champions for a pilgrim. We are in the ditch along the side of a very busy road. We definitely got some good looks. It is funny how perfectly happy you can be with just simple things and the fact that we found a dry spot while it was raining.
Even though the day was gray and rainy, the scenery around us was beautiful. And our only companions along the path were some cows and ducks and all the people driving cars zooming past us.

Our lodging….a little scary. Think of the Soviet block, think Nazi Germany. The lights come on automatically when you enter a corridor. The showers are in the basement down a long corridor. The lights didn’t stay on for long when you’re in the shower. The room is sufficient with a very loosely woven fabric for our bedspread and pillow. I might use my sleep sack tonight.

Lunch in a Ditch, sounds like a good name for a restaurant if you ask me. Have a peaceful day, be safe and know that you are being prayed for.
