Jakobsweg Day7 Třemošná-Hracholusky 13.9mi

FYI. Today we passed the 100mi mark!! A short compilation video is at the end of today’s vlog entry.

Good morning,Allison here.

This morning we ate a breakfast of yogurt and pastries in Nadine’s hotel room.  But much to the disappointment of Nadine and myself there was no tea or coffee. We are very caffeine deprived. We said goodbye to the bowling alley lodging. I have to remember that bowling alleys are a serious contender in lodging in the Czech Republic.

So we began our walk and shortly came to a small village where our path was to cross an interstate. We were met with a gate and an ominous sign. Looking at the map, the next available highway crossing meant a major detour. So, like all good pilgrims we snuck around the gate and crossed the bridge anyway. We rationalized that it was Sunday and no one would care anyway. Google translate indicated the main danger was working machinery.

To our surprise, there was a sole worker on the other side. We said hello as we passed him as if nothing was unusual. He reacted in the same manner. Well done pilgrims.

Other than the aforementioned bridge, the path this morning consisted of walking along a few streets before we hit a farm path and forest paths. I love walking along the fields of wheat . It is beautiful in a relaxing way. And I have to mention the cows. Something about cows makes my heart happy.

Good Afternoon, Nadine Here

The hills are gentler here.  When we were passing through an area growing wheat we came upon a man and woman who were carrying paintbrushes and paints and gleaning from the cherry trees.  They were on a mission to paint the white red white markers on the trees along the way that marks our journey. Not a lot of people speak any English in this area so communication is a little sparse.  A smile and hello go a long way though.

A beautiful rock garden

Allison Again

We came across a historic site right in the middle of the path. A World War Two memorial to the pilots and crew who were shot down attempting to bomb the Skoda munitions plant in Pilson which was producing weapons for Germans.

Our lunch was a relaxing one just sitting in the woods on a carpet of moss.

We reached our pension an hour too early. Between our German and the owners German, we were able to communicate. Fun to use what you know.

The local bar around the corner was a fun place to have a beer and an ice cream too. But the proprietor is a lively gentleman who was fun to chat with.

The views out the window are stunning. The lake is the result of damming the river Mys.

Mark was finally able to create a short artistic compilation because we finally have good WiFi. He was happy.

Our evening ended with a long overdue call back home to mom and those kids we were able to reach.

Tomorrow we start week 2!
